Petition to Obama for a Secretary of the Arts

Noting that most industrialized nations have a ministry of culture or of the arts, an online petition has been started to request President-Elect Barack Obama to create a similar cabinet level position. The idea was sparked by Quincy Jones in a December 2008 interview during which he discussed his efforts to get the President-Elect to appoint a Secretary of the Arts.
