Quotable Quote - Bo Bennett

"It is not rejection itself that people fear, it is the possible consequences of rejection. Preparing to accept those consequences and viewing rejection as a learning experience that will bring you closer to success, will not only help you to conquer the fear of rejection, but help you to appreciate rejection itself."

The first working artist that I ever met, Evelyn Patricia Terry, told me that rejection is just one step closer to where you are trying to get to. Over the past few years I have embraced that philosophy. Plus, it isn't ME being rejected for being awful (which is what so many artists always feel). It's the work being rejected for not fitting whatever criteria the juror requires. Don't take your work not being selected personally. Plus, for me, that rejection of my work in certain quarters has led it to blossom in a market that I may not have tapped out of my own fear.

One thing I always say is that opportunities don't always look the way we think they should, you truly have to be open to them.
